The Wheels on the Bus...

My Anna-Claire has hit a major milestone in her little, five year old life! She is now an official Jr. Camper for the summer at her school. Did you know that being a Jr. Camper is a very big thing? According to Anna-Claire it means you are now a "Big Girl" and can now do "Big Girl" things!

Yesterday, to showcase her "Big Girl"-ness My Anna-Claire went on her first ever field trip. My baby went on a field trip. My baby got on a big yellow bus and went on a field trip. My baby took her very first sack lunch, got on a big yellow bus and went on a field trip! I had to take a moment to let it all sink in that my baby is no longer a baby but a "Big Girl" doing "Big Girl" things! Where have the years gone?

Since this was such a monumental event in her life and mine, I of course had to watch and take pictures of the whole event! More than the "Big Girl" mindset, the field trip, the big yellow bus and even the sack lunch, I think my most memorable moment of this milestone is seeing my baby girl start to get on that bus, turn around, look at me, smile and say, "Now, you will be here to pick me up this afternoon right Momma? I love you!" And there I was faced standing watching my baby grow up into a "Big Girl" right before my very own eyes!

Take a moment to hug your babies! Tell them you love them with all your heart! And thank the Lord for blessing you with wonderful memories such as this!

Biker Blues & Baby Teeth

Yesterday, My Anna-Claire had what ended up to be a rather dreadful afternoon! We decided to enjoy the beautiful weather by spending some time out doors. For the first time in a very long time Anna-Claire wanted to ride her bike. This was a pretty monumental event in a Day in the Life of Three Youngs. See, she is not to fond of bike riding! As she puts it - "The wheels go too fast!" Now I know why her biking riding adventures have become so far and few between! And rightfully so....

She was doing so good! She was pedaling faster than normal. Casey said she even went as far as honking her horn. And then it happened. She fell face first into the concrete off her bike. My poor baby! I knew when I saw Casey carrying her in his arms down the sidewalk and our neighbor following with bike in tow something had gone terribly bad. After wiping away several tears and giving several hugs, it was time to assess the damage. A few minor scraps to her upper lip and chin. Nothing a little neosporin couldn't cure. Now her teeth ... a different story. We knew this would call for a trip to the dentist....

Needless to say her two front baby teeth are now loose from the fall. And she is now the proud owner of a Orange, Yellow and White bouncy ball from the dentist's prize closet! What a trooper!

Madame Butterfly

Did you know that all butterflies are girls and that they are all girls because they all have girl colors on their wings? I didn't either until My Anna-Claire told me this past Sunday as we released the 5 butterflies in a neighbors flower garden!

Each year a friend of ours orders "caterpillars in a jar" for her daughter. With her help I ordered My Anna-Claire her own "caterpillars in a jar". She just loved watching the caterpillars moving around, eating and then forming their cocoons. For days we have been watching and waiting for our five butterflies to hatch from their cocoons. She even named all five of them - Anna-Claire, Alyssa, Lily, Kayla and Ashlyn. Saturday morning Kayla was the first to hatch. Sunday morning Anna-Claire followed suit, then Lily, then Ashlyn and then last but not least little Alyssa! It was amazing watching Anna-Claire's excitement as each butterfly emerged! She was so excited she even had to call her Gigi with all the details. Sunday, afternoon we released each butterfly one by one. Anna-Claire was lucky enough to have one butterfly perch on her finger for a minute or two!

What was even more amazing than Anna-Claire's expression was watching this process from beginning to end and seeing God's glory begin displayed through the beautiful metamorphosis of a butterfly. Aren't we so fortunate that our God took the time to include the most intricate details for even the smallest of creatures! I pray that we never stop taking the time to seek out His precious works of art!
